More layouts

This layout could work nicely for something like the Golden Compass film.

I might try something like this for the Da Vinci Code film, as the colours and the way the imagery is incorporated gives it an overall mysterious look.

Magazine Layouts

A collection of magazine layouts I found quite interesting.

This one has a nice balance in it, which the colours in the type contribute to nicely.

I think the colours in the one gives it a nice contrast.

Nice idea for a layout, I like how the heading isn't straight.

Looks a little cluttered, but I still like the idea. Having the image where it is gives it a nice flow. It might be nice to try something similar, but perhaps with the opacity lowered on the image.

Web page, but still a nice layout.

My three films

I want to focus on films that have quite a puzzle/riddle element to them, as I think it could be quite interesting to work with. I would like to try and incorporate a sort of puzzle aspect into my booklet, so they become interactive.

The Golden Compass:

"It was no ordinary life for a young girl: living among scholars in the hallowed halls of Jordan College and tearing unsupervised through Oxford's motley streets on mad quests for adventure. But Lyra's greatest adventure would begin closer to home, the day she heard hushed talk of an extraordinary particle. Microscopic in size, the magical dust- discovered in the vast Arctic expanse of the North -was rumored to possess profound properties that could unite whole universes. But there were those who feared the particle and would stop at nothing to destroy it. Catapulted into the heart of a terrible struggle, Lyra was forced to seek aid from clans, 'gyptians, and formidable armored bears. And as she journeyed into unbelievable danger, she had not the faintest clue that she alone was destined to win, or to lose, this more-than-mortal battle..." Taken from IMDB

The Alethiometer/Golden Compass. A device used to find truth.

National Treasure:

"Cage plays Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian and amateur cryptologist searching for a lost treasure of precious metals, jewelry, artwork and other artifacts that was accumulated into a single massive stockpile by looters and warriors over many millenia starting in Ancient Egypt, later rediscovered by warriors who form themselves into the Knights Templar to protect the treasure, eventually hidden by American Freemasons during the American Revolutionary War. A coded map on the back of the Declaration of Independence points to the location of the "national treasure", but Gates is not alone in his quest. Whoever can steal the Declaration and decode it first will find the greatest treasure in history." Taken from Wikipedia

The Da Vinci Code:

"Symbologist Robert Langdon is thrown into a mysterious and bizarre murder. Alongside Langdon is the victims granddaughter and cryptologist Sophie Neveu, who with Robert discovers clues within Da Vinci's paintings. To further find the truth, Robert and Sophie travel from Paris to London, whilst crossing paths with allies and villains such as Sir Leigh Teabing and Silas. Wherever their path takes them, their discovery which is about to be revealed could shake the foundations of mankind." Taken from IMDB

Book binding examples

Researching into various book binding techniques, I found some of these. The movies I chose to do for my booklet focus on have similar sort of puzzles in them, and this sort of bind/design could work rather well.
